I was reading Necole Bitchie yesterday and saw that there are apparently fans that are mad that he chose a light-skinned girl as his video chick vs. using a dark-skinned girl or at least a black girl. One of the quotes from the blog said
“I don’t really see how her kisses could taste like “Hersheys” but the vid was a good look. He is very cute & the tattoo is very sexy.”
I don’t particularly have an issue with him choosing a light skinned girl. When he was on 106 & Park he stated that she was Brazilian. My thing is that it’s easy for them to use a black girl in a misogynistic way. Our fat booty’s all out in some video, hell practically every damn video.
It would have been nice if this young black man. Brand new urban act. #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Charts had decided to go with a black girl as his lead in his debut video. For once we have a song about someone catering to us on a very special day and it just would have been nice to see him give his own that honor.
Now here is Exhibit 1: Pictures I found of the original video online featuring obviously black girls gyrating and posing with barely any clothes on. Vastly different from the video that hit the airwaves. The video is very tasteful and sweet. However, one of these ladies below could have played the part just as well and more accurately given him a “Hershey’s kiss”

This is such an ignorant article. It's the 21st century. Not every african american man has to be with an african american woman. People should see past race and surround themselves with people that have the same values and goals in life.
But that's beside the point. It's just a video and he chose a girl that was sexy. And what might be sexy to you might not be sexy to him or the casting directors for the video. The whole point of the video is to complement the song and get people watching which it obviously did because you are writing an article about it.
who cares if shes light skinned or dark skinned. its a great video regardless of the skin color. people who are gonna write on their page because hes a black artist with a light skinned woman in his video is a problem for you…you must just be jealous he didn't put you in his video. probably some of the black girls that auditioned for the video were in other videos but in a scandalous way and this is tasteful music video that didn't need a "video vixen" shaking her a** in other videos in his

What a double standard! Black people as a whole want to be recognized as equals which means *we all need to look past each other's ethnicity, but then it's a problem if a black man is with a white woman, or if a white man is with a black woman. This will be the only time I adress this issue because obviously some of you all don't read. I said it would have been nice to see Jeremih use a black girl in a video that was so classy and tasteful. The girl he used was beautiful. As far as for the female black image of self it would have been nice to see a video where a man catered to his woman on her birthday instead of tipping her and smacking her ass in the club like we've been seeing all year. I appreciate you all leaving your comments but you're wrong. I'm not racist I just thought it would have been nice.

the problem really is with the young black community. as long as they keep objectifying their beautiful women– you will hardly see a video with a positive black woman fully dressed. unfortunately it has to be screamed by those artists that are considered by others as whack or lame– try checking out "Go" by Common and or "I'm Cheating"– those are nice!
